Artist. Kimono innovator. Fusing art and fashion with circles and straight lines: the components which construct the universe, revealing the infinite possibilities inherent in the finite. Her original brand “HIROCOLEDGE.”

IKEA × TAKAHASHI HIROKO SÖTRÖNN collection / 2024
The starting point for our collaboration with IKEA was our curiosity to explore a creative blend of Scandinavian and Japanese design aesthetics.
A bold, contemporary world emerges from the minimalism of both aesthetics. This collection offers a wide range of textile items to home décor items.
A total of 17 items are available to give you more freedom and enrich your space.

IKEA × TAKAHASHI HIROKO SÖTRÖNN collection / 2024
The geometric patterns Hiroko creates are composed of only two simple shapes: circles and straight lines. It embodies the concept of “infinite possibilities born from the finite”. It is also a metaphor that life can be beautiful in spite of limitations. In this collaboration, in addition to Japan-ness and Tokyo-ness, Hiroko was asked to express TAKAHASHI HIROKO-ness. Hiroko believed that “by expressing myself in a natural way, as an artist born and raised in Japan, I would inevitably create something that is uniquely Japanese”. So Hiroko tried to approach this project in her own way, without being eccentric, while imagining people around the world who enjoy using IKEA products. For this collection, Hiroko developed two patterns from a single motif created by drawing, which is her life’s work. By arranging them according to the item, material, and production method, a collection with full of expression was created.
